Cookie Policy
Stellomail’s website sets no cookies. The web app uses one strictly necessary cookie to keep you signed in. No advertising or analytics cookies.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser so that it can recognise your browser on later requests. Similar technologies, such as local storage, let a website keep information in your browser in a comparable way. This Cookie Policy explains how Stellomail Μονοπρόσωπη Ι.Κ.Ε. (“Stellomail”, “we” or “us”) uses these technologies on stellomail.com (the “Website”) and in the Stellomail web application (the “Web App”).
This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.
Our website
The Website sets no cookies of any kind. It contains no analytics tools, no advertising, no third-party trackers and no social media embeds, and the fonts it uses are hosted on our own servers, so your browser does not contact any font or tracking service when you visit.
The Website is served through Cloudflare, which provides content delivery and security. Cloudflare processes your IP address in transit to deliver pages and protect the Website from attack, and standard technical logs are kept for 14 days, as described in our Privacy Policy. This does not involve setting cookies in your browser.
The sign-in and sign-up forms on the Website pass your details to the Service only when you submit them. Once you are signed in, the Web App cookie described below applies.
The web app cookie
The Web App sets a single cookie, named “sm_session”. Its sole purpose is to keep you signed in to your account as you move between pages and to protect your session against misuse. It is a first-party cookie, set only by Stellomail.
The sm_session cookie is marked HttpOnly, so it cannot be read by scripts running in the page; Secure, so it is sent only over encrypted connections; and SameSite=Lax, so it is not sent with most requests initiated by other websites. It expires after 30 days of inactivity or when you sign out, whichever comes first.
We use no advertising, analytics, social media or cross-site cookies, and we do not allow any third party to set cookies through the Web App.
Local storage
The Web App uses your browser’s local storage only for interface preferences, such as whether you prefer a dense or comfortable view, and to autosave drafts on your own device so that work in progress is not lost if your browser closes unexpectedly.
Information held in local storage stays on your device. It is not used to track you, is not read by any third party, and is not used for analytics or advertising. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings; doing so will reset your interface preferences and remove any unsent draft copies held locally.
Why there is no banner
Under Article 4(5) of Greek Law 3471/2006, which implements Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC, consent is not required for storing information in, or accessing information from, a user’s device where this is strictly necessary to provide a service the user has explicitly requested. The sm_session cookie and the local storage described in this policy fall within that exemption, because they are strictly necessary to provide the signed-in Web App and the preferences and drafts you create in it.
Because we use no cookies or similar technologies that require consent, we do not display a cookie consent banner. If we ever introduce a cookie or similar technology that requires consent, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before setting it.
Managing cookies
You can view and delete cookies, and block them for particular sites, in your browser’s settings. In most browsers these options are found under Settings, then Privacy or Privacy and Security, then Cookies and Site Data. Browser help pages explain the exact steps for each browser and device.
If you delete the sm_session cookie you will be signed out of the Web App. If you block it, you will not be able to stay signed in to the Web App, although the Website will continue to work normally and our mobile and desktop apps are unaffected.
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised.
